IPL 2020 - Second Half Analysis
Today is the last match of the IPL group stage between MI and SRH that will decide the fourth team of the play-off. MI, RCB and DC are the other three teams who have already qualified for the play-off. If SRH wins then they will qualify or else KKR will be the fourth team.
Let's have a look at how all teams performed in the tournament.
Mumbai Indians:
They are playing like a champion and if they continue in the same way, they are more likely to win the tournament one more time. Even without Rohit Sharma, they look like a team that others will find it difficult to beat in this tournament.
Delhi Capitals
In the second half of the tournament, they suddenly lost the form and lose their last 4 matches before defeating RCB to secure the second spot. However, they will face Mumbai Indians in the first match of the play-off and things do not look rosy for them. Prithvi Shaw looks out of touch and their batting is not firing the way it did in the first half of this IPL. However, in T20 anything can happen on a given day and DC can reach the final if they play well against MI.
RCB:
RCB has looked good in this IPL. Even though they will end up with the third or fourth spot, they have all resources to win this tournament. With ABD and Virat look good with the bat and having a decent bowling attack, RCB can pull a surprise.
KKR:
Even after they changed the captain from Kartik to Morgan, they haven't looked like the team who is threatening. With Morgan being a captain, only good the thing that has happened is he himself setting the right example by leading the team with the bat. KKR has all the superstars but most of them not firing on all days. However, if they reach the play-off they can still beat any team on a given day.
SRH:
SRH was known to be a team who used to like defend the totals with their scintillating bowling attack. With Bhuvi, their leader of the bowling attack, is out of the tournament, the team did not look well settled. However, they have their destiny in their own hands. Manish Pandey and Warner are the two guys who looked good with the bat and it is up to them to guide the team to the play-off.
Rajasthan Royals
Even the inclusion of Ben Stokes was not good enough to guide them to the play-off. They were in contention till their last game however KKR and Morgan had a different plan. Rahul Tawatia grabs the most headlines for his 5 sixes in one over and some great catching and useful spin bowling. The team looks good on paper with players Smith, Stokes but the game is played on the ground.
Kings XI:
After the inclusion of Chris Gayle, the team looks totally different but misses the play-off in a touching distance. Their Indian players Rahul and Shami were in great form but could not guide the team. They have to blame a few games that they lost by a very close margin.
CSK:
The first time in the history of IPL, CSK did not reach the play-off. They looked off-coloured throughout this IPL and only look sharp when it became clear that they will not reach the top-four. They need to make in their set-up for the next year's IPL.
