Virat Kohli, National Duty and Paternity Leave

A cricket season is back! India is playing test matches against Australia. One of the most discussed topics was whether Virat Kohli should come back to India between a tour to accompany his wife as they are expecting their first baby. In India, you will get opinions on both sides, which is OK. However, some of the ex-cricketers are saying that Virat is on national duty and he should have stayed back to support the team. This makes me sad! First of all, playing a sport for your country is not national duty. Cricket is a commercial sport and it should be looked at these players are doing similar job that our police officers and arm forces do. Cricket or any sport is a form of entertainment. We should look at the cricket or any sport as one of the business sectors, similar to IT or Banking, etc. Various sponsors or companies make investment in the sport and we may pay them because it entertain us and not because these players are fighting for our nation's pride. When we have this clar...

Maradona - The Legend

There is no doubt that Diego Maradona was a football legend. At the same time, he was in limelight due to non footballing reasons too. When you look at the sportsperson from the someone whom you would like follow, sadly Maradona was a far away from that category. However, irrespective of his off the field image he was the most loved footballer by the whole world for his football skills.  His story is not different than a typical bollywood movie where a hero fights against all odds and wins at the end. When we watch these kind of movies, we usually say that these things happen only in movies. When you look at the entire campaign of 1986 Football World Cup, you would start believing that the things like this can happen in the real word too. And the hero of this movie was the Diego Maradona.  In 1986 World Cup which took place in Mexico, no one expected anything special from the team Argentina. However, Maradona had some other plans. He was leading an inexperienced team but with ...

Elearning Project - ADDIE Model

ADDIE model is used to design the training for employees or participants. ADDIE stands for Analysis, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluation. Any training material has to go through these stages before it is delivered to learners. Let's explore each of these stage in briefly.  Analysis: This is the first stage and the most important one. If anything goes wrong in this stage, it will impact the overall training. In this stage, the training manager should gather important information of the training to conducted: What is the purpose of the training? Who are the audience of the training? Will it be a classroom training or online training or mix of both? When and where the training would be conducted? Once you get answers of each questions, you should start gathering the content and create outline. You should chunk the content into small groups. You should able to categorise the content as per the course, module, lesson, topic, subtopic structure.  Design: The next stage is desi...

India's Tour of Australia

India is going to tour Australia in the month of November and December to play T20, ODI and test matches. Last time, India trashed Australia less Warner and Smith in the test series by 2 - 1. This time it would be interesting to see if they can repeat this feat. It won't be easy. This time Australia's batting is much stronger as Warner and Smith are back and Labuschange is at the number 3. On the other side, Virat Kohli will be only available for the first test as he will leave the tour in between as he is expecting his first child. Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma are not fully fit so it will be interesting to see if India can put a fight with the Aussies. My prediction is Australia will win the test series 3 - 0 0r 3 -1. It does not matter who wins the T20 and ODI series but the pride will be at stake for the test series.  Let's a glance through the predicted XI of both teams for the first test match that would be a first day-night test match between these two teams.  India...

IPL 2020 - Second Half Analysis

Today is the last match of the IPL group stage between MI and SRH that will decide the fourth team of the play-off.  MI, RCB and DC are the other three teams who have already qualified for the play-off. If SRH wins then they will qualify or else KKR will be the fourth team.  Let's have a look at how all teams performed in the tournament.  Mumbai Indians: They are playing like a champion and if they continue in the same way, they are more likely to win the tournament one more time. Even without Rohit Sharma, they look like a team that others will find it difficult to beat in this tournament.  Delhi Capitals In the second half of the tournament, they suddenly lost the form and lose their last 4 matches before defeating RCB to secure the second spot. However, they will face Mumbai Indians in the first match of the play-off and things do not look rosy for them. Prithvi Shaw looks out of touch and their batting is not firing the way it did in the first half of this IPL. H...

Bollywood Celebrities Who Sound Funny

Disclaimer*: I am writing this for practice. Do not take these views seriously.  I want to write about some of the Bollywood celebrities who want people to take their views seriously but they sound (most of the time) funny.  Kangana Ranaut: At the top of the list is none other than Kangana Ranaut.  She was one of the actresses I used to admire in the past for her acting skills and roles she portrayed in her films, but no more.  The thing is, nowadays she gives an opinion about everything without even thinking.  When she raised the voice about nepotism in Coffee with Karan, she was correct.  However, you cannot brag about the same thing continuously and play the same card for your benefits.  KRK aka Kamal Khan No one takes this guy seriously but he always comes up with something on his Twitter account to keep himself in a limelight.  I do not understand why newspapers and news channels promote his tweets for free of cost.  I think he even does...

What innovations we can bring in cricket?

Even though we Indians love cricket, it is not one of the popular games across the world. Football, Tennis will certainly take the top spot in this regard. Cricket is hardly played by 12 countries in its main division while other countries play it in subsequent division (mostly without sponsors and exposure).  I was just thinking, what innovations we can bring in the various formats of the game: T20, One-day and Test to make it more interesting.  1. Why play only 11 players when the squad always has 15 players.  In football, you can substitute three players across 90 minutes. There are a few similarities between cricket and football.  They are team sports and each team has 11 players. Out of these 11 players, 10 moves across the ground and the remaining one holds in position, i.e.,  a goalkeeper in football and a wicket-keeper in cricket. Then, why can we not use the rule of substitutes in cricket? In cricket, we can allow the team to substitute one player in ea...

Top 10 Kdrama on Netflix

Initially, I was not sure whether I would like to watch Korean dramas. However, after watching the first k-drama, I am continuously watching these dramas. I am not sure why do I like these Korean dramas so much. I have tried to watch dramas from other Asian countries like China, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan. Interestingly, I could not able to engage with dramas from these countries. I do not understand the Korean language, but somehow it sounds better than other Asian languages.  How I got to know about Korean drama is an interesting story. I was looking for some comedy shows on Netflix. While going through the search result, I got to know about the Canadian Netflix series- Kim's Convenience. It was an English series about a Korean family who migrated from Korea to Canada for a better future. Because I watched that series, Netflix started showing me K-drama results. The first k-drama that I watched was Crash Landing on You. After the Game of Thrown, this was the first drama that hooked ...

IPL 2020 - Halfway Analysis

It's a cricket season again. The world's most popular cricket competition 'IPL' is underway and has reached its a half-way mark. It will be interesting to see how eight teams have performed so far and who will be likely to reach in a play-off.  As most of you must be aware, there are eight teams in IPL and each team will get to play 14 matches and the top four will reach the play-off. Now, all teams have played seven matches. I think we can predict who will be likely to reach the top four.  Mumbai Indians: So far they looked more complete team in all eight teams. They have the best batting line-up and a very good bowling line-up. They have Rohit, de Cock, Surya Kumar Yadav as the top three followed by power hitters like the Pandya brothers, Pollard and Ishan Kishan. The bowling is backed by two world-class fast bowlers, Bumrah and Boult. Importantly, Pollard, Hardik and Krunal are all-rounders, which add value to their bowling department. The only weakness we can see in...
